Imagine being told your baby has a 50/50 chance of surviving a rare, life-threatening condition. I kind of can't imagine it, because every time I try, I get a lump in my throat and feel like I'm going to hyperventilate. But 20-year-old Rebecca Turner, god love her, showed remarkable courage when her daughter Scarlett was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (which means the left side of her heart didn't develop during Rebecca's pregnancy). Doctors gave the young mom the option to terminate when the defect was discovered at her 20-week scan, but Turner refused.
