When I was a kid, I used to say kinda creepy kid stuff to my great-grandmother like, "Ma, would you stand at the edge of a cliff and let someone shoot you with an arrow over the side to save my life?" and she'd say, "Of course I would." One mom can tell her baby daughter that she would dive under an out-of-control cab to save her life -- and she wouldn't mean it in a fantastical way, but in an I REALLY DID THIS way. A heroic woman who was pushing her 8-month-old daughter in her stroller down the street really faced this scenario. And she immediately jumped into action like the superhero mom she is!
The incident was all caught on videocamera as the woman walked with her baby down the street and suddenly a cab came barreling out of nowhere and struck the stroller. The stroller was pushed out of the way of the cab -- but the baby was no longer in it!
As witnesses tell it, the baby had been knocked underneath the crazy cab. Holy moly, what a heart stopping moment for any mother. The mom wastes no time scrambling under the taxi to retrieve her baby, even though she had no idea if the taxi was going to suddenly lurch and start moving again.
Some moms might have panicked and stood screaming for help. Some might have called 911 rather than risk going under the car and perhaps having it roll over both of them. And I wouldn't judge either choice.
But this mom's instincts just took over. She dove under the cab and retrieved her baby. The baby turned out to be fine.
The cab driver, however, was pronounced dead at the scene. It's possible he died at the wheel and this is what caused him to drive into the stroller.
