Do you believe in miracles? If not, then you just might be a bit more open to the possibility of divine intervention after hearing about a newborn baby girl who came back from the dead.
Yasmin Gomes was born alive in Brazil, but shortly after her mother delivered, she stopped breathing and was eventually pronounced dead after doctors were unable to resuscitate her. The baby was even issued a death certificate -- but one of the nurses who was present for the birth just couldn't bring herself to take the child to the morgue.
Instead, she put her tiny body in a box and left her in the hospital chapel. And here's where the miracle plays in.
Three hours after being left in the chapel, baby Yasmin's grandmother came to pick her up and take her to the morgue -- and the baby suddenly started kicking her legs. And when she opened her eyes, it was clear that she was very much alive, after somehow managing to come back from the dead.
Ok, so I know what you're thinking -- the baby was probably clinging to life after the birth and doctors and nurses somehow didn't pick up on her vital signs. Believe it or not, they insist that the baby was deceased. The nurse who brought her to the chapel even recalls Yasmin being "blue all over" and "completely dead."
Good grief. Can you even imagine the range of emotions this baby's mother went through over the course of those few hours? Her child was born alive, then stopped breathing -- and she was forced to face the reality that she'd never get to hold her in her arms, rock her to sleep, and watch her grow up. And then in a matter of three hours, she got the shock of her life after being told that Yasmin was indeed alive. I'm sure pure joy and elation doesn't even begin to explain how she must have felt in that moment.
And I guess it really shouldn't come as a huge surprise that Yasmin's parents decided to change their daughter's name to Victoria, meaning victory. If coming back from the dead isn't the definition of that word, I really don't know what is.
This little girl must have survived the impossible for a reason, and it's obvious that she was meant to live a long, happy life on this earth. But man, what a story she'll have to tell people as she grows up.
Do you think this baby really came back from the dead, or did doctors make a mistake in thinking she had passed?
