Yesterday, while everyone was clinking their Union Jack champagne glasses in celebration of the royal baby, another famous couple was quietly celebrating the birth of their baby. Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem welcomed a baby girl yesterday -- the same day as Will and Kate -- and the timing couldn't have been more perfect for the notoriously private couple.
In a past interview with Vogue, Cruz, 39, said: "I want my son and my kids -- if I have more -- to grow up in a way that is as anonymousas possible." And whatever she and Bardem are doing seems to be working. We rarely see photos of the couple out with Leo, their 2-year-old son. And throughout her pregnancy, Penelope was fairly off the radar. For someone who values privacy so much, she couldn't have picked a better day to give birth. Right now, the couple will be able to rest and relax and spend time with their tiny new addition without worrying that it's going to be a media circus the next few weeks. They have the privacy they very much wanted. Thanks, Kate.
No word on the name yet, but mama and baby are doing well, and not much matters beyond that. Congrats, Penelope and Javier. Have fun being a family of four! And have fun staying off the grid for a while!
