Actress Evan Rachel Wood welcomed a baby boy recently with her husband, Jaime Bell. No word on the name yet, but thankfully, mama and baby are doing well. Evan opted for a natural birth, and shortly after the little sweetie was born, her husband tweeted: "Wow! What a day. Evan you are my warrior! You never cease to amaze. Thank you for birthing our son so naturally & peacefully. You did it!"
So beautiful that her husband had such kind words about his wife. But he would have had the same message if Evan had a C-section ... right?
People are sensitive about how they give birth. Some women have high hopes of having a natural, unmedicated birth, but then something happens and they have to have a C-section. Or an epidural. Or something that wasn't part of their original "birth plan". I thought I was going to have an unmedicated birth, but then I found out I had Group B Strep, and well, that went out the window. I'm okay with it, really I am. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly disappointed when I first found out I had it, because I knew the birth I had envisioned probably wouldn't come to fruition. I still gave birth. I still "amazed" both my husband and myself.
I'm guessing Evan's husband is just incredibly proud of her right now and would have said the same thing regardless of how their son came into the world (minus the "naturally" part). At least, I hope he would have. Because every mother's path is different, but they're all warriors. Every single one of them.
Did your birth go as "planned"?
