Since Prince William and Duchess Kate still refuse to allow television cameras to capture their every waking moment with the new royal baby, we are left to devour whatever crumbs of details we can get. And fortunately, a source close to the family is spilling just enough aboutKate and Will's first few weeks with baby George. Tucked away in the Middletons' house in Bucklebury, the new parents are trying to give their baby a warm, carefree start to his childhood. You know you want a wee peek in, right? Here's everything we know so far.
The routine: Basically there's a lot of sleeping going on. Every day it's just: Sleep, tend the baby, eat, sleep, tend the baby, eat, repeat. With Kate's parents and housekeeper around, there are plenty of hands to help with the baby and keep the new couple perfectly comfortable.
Prince William does chores: But that doesn't mean Prince William gets special treatment. "William still has to help load the dishwasher after dinner. The same will apply to George when he's a grown boy," the source says. Meanwhile, the family is being fed simple dinners, like housekeeper Antonella Fresolone's Italian classics.
No nanny: There are still no plans to hire a nanny any time soon. "They're doing as much as they can by themselves," the family friend says. "The baby is always with one of them, or asleep." Why hire a nanny, when they're "just loving" their time with their new baby? "Every day is bringing new things to learn."
Baby George is growing: "He already looks really different from when he was in the hospital!" Well of course he does! That happens with every newborn. We can't wait to see him when he makes his next appearance.
Welp, sounds like everything's fine. I mean, how much is there to say about the first few weeks of a newborn's life? If you've had a baby, you can pretty well guess what's going on with the royal family. Still, I think it's cool that Kate and William are keeping things simple and trying to do as much themselves as possible, with the help of Kate's parents and housekeeper. That is the ideal situation -- for just about everyone. I think they'll all be glad they were as hands-on as they were, and that they soaked up every moment they could. There is nothing like that cozy, dreamlike time with your newborn, especially with your first.
Does Prince George's first couple weeks of life sound a lot like your first weeks with your babies?
