It's been settled. Prince George will follow in his father's footsteps. No pressure there! During their first royal event outing at the Tusk Conservancy Awards, Kate Middleton mentioned how inspired she is by William and all the work he's doing with animal conservation. "I’m just learning all the time and I think George will be too," the Duchess told guests at the ceremony. "I think George will be following in his father’s footsteps."

Love that. While George doesn't necessarily have to follow in his father's exact footsteps, it's nice that the kid will grow up having parents who are passionate.

When you're a parent, your children are your world. You'd move the earth and sun for them. But I also think it's important that kids grow up seeing parents who have interests and, moreover, conviction. George may grow up interested in animal conservation, or he may not. But one thing is for sure -- he'll be interested in something. Passion will be ingrained into him.

Clearly, there are certain expectations that come with being born into a royal family. Prince George essentially has no choice but to be involved with charities at some point. It would be completely unacceptable for him to just lay around in the South of France most of his life, making no contribution to society whatsoever. But because his parents are both people who've demonstrated interest and involvement in various organizations, I don't think that will be a problem at all. Actually, it should come quite naturally.

(He can do the South of France thing in between.)

Do you try to demonstrate passion and interests to your child by example?
