Evan Rachel Wood wants to make one thing clear -- her child is NONE of your business. Not his fashions, not his favorite toy, not even his name. That's right. Four months after giving birth to the little tyke, she stillrefuses to reveal her baby's name. And the reason why?
“I haven’t released his name," she said in a interview with The Daily Beast. "I’ve done my best to keep his picture from being taken, just because kids don’t really have a choice in the matter."
She went on to say, "It’s such a shame when kids get harassed just because of who their parents are before they’re old enough to decide who they are or who they want to be."
I get it. It's a very motherly, protective response. And to a certain extent, she is right. But it's time for a reality check. When has keeping secrets from the public or the press made them ignore you? In fact, it's more likely to create a frenzy for more information rather than getting them to back down. I have no doubt that every time she sits for an interview, a question about her son will pop up. And they will continue to pop up until answers are given.
That's just the way it works in the world of big stars. People aren't just interested in their latest roles. Part of the fascination has to do with their lives outside of the studio. That means (whether this is fair or not) adoring fans feel entitled to know about every aspect of your life. Of course, this drives some stars mad. There have been too many celeb meltdowns to count when it comes to them dealing with the prying paparazzi.
I bet if Rachel makes her son less mysterious, people would basically leave him alone. Perhaps she should reconsider her stance and at least let the world know his name. That said, it's a mother's prerogative to reveal whatever she wants to reveal about her child. She just has to deal with the reaction.
Do you think Rachel is going about protecting her child's privacy the right way?
