This Week's Secret:
My son is 6 months old and can't be put down. He loves to be held and rocked and bounced and I love to do all those things. But sometimes I also need to do other things (like go to the bathroom or answer the phone or cook dinner), and my son refuses to be put down. Once, by accident, I discovered that he was actually very happy to watch television (for kids, obviously), and now I use it a lot. I feel bad because I know TV is supposed to be bad for kids, but it's the only way he stays happy. Is this awful? — Anonymous
Studies say a lot of things, but studies aren't in your house dealing with your crying baby on a daily basis. That said, there are other options. Have you tried music? Maybe it's the sound that helps. If you think not and believe it's really the pictures, then consider limiting the exposure.
One half hour each day to give yourself a little break isn't going to make or break you baby. We all have to do what we have to do ...
Do you have any advice for this mom?
