Bizarre Breastfeeding Arrest Is a Truly Creepy Crime

A 24-year-old South Dakota woman named Rebecca Silva was arrested last Sunday for breaking and entering, but strangely enough, she wasn't stealing anything when she was caught. Instead, Silva was found by the shocked homeowner at around 5 a.m. when her barking dogs alerted her to the fact that a stranger was lying next to her in bed.

Apparently Silva had not only made herself at home in a bed that wasn't hers, she was also busted for attempting to breastfeed the homeowner's 2-month-old baby.

According to police, the mom first discovered Silva sleeping in her bed, then saw Silva pick up her baby and tried to nurse her. The justifiably freaked mom then got Silva to hand over the baby before rushing out to call 911.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Silva has a completely different story to tell. She says that the mom was someone she had met the night before, and that she was invited into the house. Silva also denies that she was caught trying to nurse a baby that wasn't hers:

I did not break into her house. She gave me her pajamas. She lied to the cops that I broke into her house. I did not try to feed her baby. That didn't happen.

Silva also said the two adults had been drinking (I'm assuming we're talking Cuervo, not breast milk), and that they had had a fight before the police were called.

Well, this is certainly one of the stranger cases of she said/she said I've come across. It's hard to say what really did happen, but assuming the mom didn't just make the whole thing up, who in the hell randomly tries to breastfeed someone else's baby? Especially since I haven't seen any reports that Silva had children of her own. I mean, non-lactating boobs aren't, like, frozen yogurt taps. You kind of need some supply to meet the demand, right?

Anyway, I'm glad no one got hurt in this bizarre confrontation, and if Silva's really guilty of the crime she's being accused of, I hope she gets some help. Because either she's capable of doing insane, inexplicable things when she's three sheets to the wind ... or she's got some deeper issues that really, really need to be resolved.

Can you even imagine this happening to you and your baby? What would you do if you woke up to find a random person trying to breastfeed your child?
