Jessica Simpson's Baby Name Is All Kinds of Wrong

Finally! Did it seem like Jessica Simpson had been pregnant for the past decade? Well, she gave birth this morning to a 9-pound, 13-ounce baby girl. After a short run of old-fashioned baby names like Pearl, given to the newborn daughter of Jake Osbourne, and Gloria, given to Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Saarsgard's daughter, Jessica went with something a little more unusual. Well, unusual for a girl, that is.

Are you ready for Jessica Simpson's baby girl's name? Check it out ...

Jessica went with Maxwell Drew. Tah-dah! Kind of a boy's name, right? Drew comes from Jessica's maternal grandmother's maiden name. No word yet on what exactly inspired Maxwell, but Jessica, who had revealed previously that this would most likely be her baby's name, has said she wanted the name to be "meaningful." Plus, she's a huge fan of Maxwell House coffee. Kidding!

I like the idea of giving babies gender-neutral names. And I even like some traditional boys' names for girls -- like Bailey or even Drew, the baby's middle name. But I don't know about Maxwell. It's just too boyish for me, personally.

Jessica and her fiance, Eric Johnson, aren't the first celebs to give their baby girl a traditional boy's name though. Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen have a baby girl named Sam (not short for Samantha). Can't say I'm a big fan of that either.

I'm guessing people will end up calling little Maxwell by the diminutive Max, in which case she could say her name was Maxine, if she liked. But, of course, being the daughter of Jessica Simpson, everyone will know she's lying! Maybe she'll go by Maxi. Or Welly?

What do you think of the name Maxwell Drew for a girl?
