For better or for worse, once we become mothers, it's pretty much inevitable that we're going to compare ourselves to our own mothers. And Angelina Jolie is no exception. Despite having six kids, the actress still doesn't think she lives up to the kind of mother her late mom, Marcheline Bertrand, was. In a recent interview with Grazia magazine, Jolie said, "It's hard to think I could be as good a mother as [my mom] was. Her whole life was motherhood.''

Something happens once we have kids. We realize all the things our mothers (and fathers) did for us over the years. Little things we barely ever gave any thought to, like the sweet notes they always included in our lunch boxes, suddenly come flooding back and we think, "Ahhhh. I didn't realize you were doing this for me all along!" Or, conversely, we may think the opposite and wonder how on Earth our moms ever let us cry it out or watch TV for hours on end. The point is, comparing our own parenting style and beliefs with the ones we grew up with is damn near impossible to avoid. It's pretty much ingrained.

Of course, the fact that Angelina thinks that she'll never be able to live up to her own mother has its pitfalls, but for the most part, it shows that her mom did everything right. She loved her children as much and as hard as she could and she let it be known. It doesn't sound like Angelina has any issues with the way her mother raised her -- and not only does that speak volumes, it's a good indication that Angelina has been given the tools to be the same kind of mother.

If Shiloh, Maddox, Zahara, Vivienne, Knox, and Pax all say the same thing about their mom when they grow up, it's safe to assume that it will make Angelina happy. And it will also show that, like her mother, she did everything right.

Do you compare yourself to your mother?
